We concluded The Econ Games’ Fall Semester Speaker series this month. Dr. Dustin Rumbaugh presented his recent publication in the Journal of Sports Economics "The impact of American Football on men's labor hours. The question is "Are You Ready for Some Football?"". The paper was co-authored with Luke Petach. If you like sports, labor economics, and data, check out his presentation below.
It was great to have Dustin present to our students and he did a great job of presenting his work to a mostly undergraduate audience. We are excited to continue to grow our speaker series. We hope by providing students with the opportunity to hear from diverse experiences in economics we would increase interest in our field. If you are like me, and your economics club is too small to justify inviting people to campus, please feel free to use our speaker series as a way to engage your students. Also, if you are interested in presenting, please do reach out.
The Future of The Econ Games
The programing for The Econ Games Spring Semester is coming together. In addition to the speaker series, we will return to an in-person conference on March 24th and 25th in Lexington Kentucky. We will have more information about the conference and the industry data partner soon, so stay tuned. We will also have an online conference in May for international students and those that cannot attend the in-person meeting. More exciting news about that will follow soon.
The Spring Speaker Series
The Speaker Series is open to anyone but it is targeted towards Economics and Data Analytics undergraduate students. We are continuing to add speakers to our schedule, here is a list of our upcoming speakers. We are grateful for their support.
