January was a productive reading month. I completed five books, including one fiction title, as I work toward my goal of reading more fiction this year.
Books Read:
The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt (★★★★) - An insightful exploration of the teen mental health crisis, examining how the shift from "play-based" to "phone-based" childhood has impacted youth development. The author blames social media for mental health concerns too much, but it is worth reading.
Slow Productivity by Cal Newport (★★★) - A fresh perspective on workload management, advocating for a more sustainable approach to productivity and meaningful accomplishment. I was hoping for more, but I think I have more of an issue with the format, not the content. Still, it is worth a read.
The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown (★★★★) - A compelling guide to embracing authenticity and self-worth, challenging society's pressure for perfection through the lens of "Wholehearted Living." As always, Brené Brown doesn’t disappoint.
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein (★★★★★) - A heartwarming story told through the eyes of Enzo, a philosophical dog who shares profound insights about life, family, and love through his observations of his race car driver owner. This was a tear-jerker, but it provides a good reminder of the importance of loving the people in your life.
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins (★★★½) - A straightforward approach to personal freedom through the simple concept of "Let Them," helping readers break free from others' opinions and expectations. I recommend it for anyone living life influenced by the pressures of others to be someone they aren’t. A good reminder to live your authentic self.
What are you currently reading? Would you happen to have any recommendations for my 2025 reading list?
I’m currently reading You Like It Darker by Stephen King (a collection of short stories) which has been nothing short of amazing so far. I’m also reading Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros and rereading The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.
Congrats on 5 books in January!
I am behind in my goal in reading in terms of my yearly goal However, I'm trying to get more into Non Fiction Reading which takes me a litle longer to read than my normal fiction books. So as of right now I'm reading Caste, The origins of our discontents by Isabel Wilkerson! I'm 100 pages in and its pretty good!
