Econ With Dr. A Year in Review 2023
Happy New Year
Today, I am recapping some of our successes from 2023. At the end, we will share some challenges that we are facing, and hopefully you can help us overcome them.
At the end of 2023, we introduced a podcast so we can reach more people. One month in, and this has been on of the best ideas we have had. Podcasts requires a different way of creating, thinking, and communicating. The numbers indicate that you all like this format. If you haven’t yet, you can access us on all platforms. Thank you for your readership and for sharing our content. You helped us reach more people, and supported our efforts. If you are ever wondering how you can help us, sharing, liking, and leaving comments help us know what you like.
The YouTube channel grew by 5,400 subscribers. More importantly, views and engagement have also increased. In 2023, 227,000 people watched our content and logged 7,500 hours of watch time! It feels like 2024, is going to be a breakout year.
Here are the most popular videos created in 2023
In 2023, I was able to weave in my mentorship efforts into the economic content creation by working with a team of young professionals that are interested in being professors and/or academics. Your support of the newsletter, Youtube channel, and podcast help develop this mentorship program. It also allows me to teach the next generation of economic and business communicators.and ideated, produced, and worked on a lot of the content we shared. Obviously, I wouldn’t be able to produce any of this content with out who has taught me how to think about audiences, value propositions, and how to create value. Her views on entrepreneurship and creation have been instrumental in how I view education. I am hoping that we can include her in more YouTube and podcast content in 2024. She likes being behind the scene, but help me encourage her to join the front end her by leaving a comment saying “we want more Jeni”.
One area that we continue to struggle with is video editing and post production. If you have some editing skills and might be interested in working with us, reach out. As my free time becomes more scares, I will need to offload video editing responsibilities. I love editing, but the theory of comparative advantage says I need to pass it on to someone else.
I am excited for 2024! There is a lot of potential for our efforts to grow and impact more people. I started these efforts because I realized, although there are a lot of economists on social media, very few looked like me or sounded like me. I truly believe in the role model effect and hope that my passion for economics and business education can help others learn more about these subjects and inspire more people to pursue these fields.
Thank you all for being part of this journey. I am grateful for each one of you and look forward to continuing to provide my economic and business insight.
